COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 17,1998 PSA#2182Commander, Naval Air Systems Command (Code 2.3), Patuxent Naval Air
Station, Bldg 2272, Lexington Park, MD 20670 16 -- TRAINERS UPGRADES POC Adrienne Somerville, Phone (301)757-5259,
AIR-2.3.2.4.5 E-MAIL: somervilleam@navair.navy.mil,
somervilleam@navair.navy.mil. Naval Air Systems Command intends to
exercise option I, under contract N00019-98-C-0012, to Lockheed Martin
Federal Systems (LMFS), 9500 Godwin Drive, Manassas, VA for the
services and hardware necessary to upgrade and expand the capabilities
of the SH-60B helicopter trainers. Specifically, this effort will seek
to update the trainers with new software, re-host the trainers to a
distributed architecture, replace the instructor station, add a new
aerodynamic model, reconfigure the trainers with a new system
architecture, and correct various other problems. As the original
developer and manufacturer of the LAMPS MK III trainers, LMFS is the
only firm with the technical expertise and knowledge of the trainer
software required to complete this effort. LMFS is the resident expert
on the existing architecture and is uniquely qualified to implement
tactical and aircraft software models using existing lab facilities.
Also, LMFS completed the Definition Phase for the Trainer Upgrade (TU)
and therefore has unique insight into the design issues associated
with the required baseline software modifications. Posted 09/15/98
