United States Agency for International Development (USAID) prime
contract no. 263-C-00-97-00090-00 issued by USAID Mission in Egypt, is
providing technical assistance to the Cairo Air Improvement Project
(CAIP) in support of the Government of Egypt's efforts to reduce air
pollution in Cairo. One of CAIP's main objectives is to reduce total
suspended particulate emissions from diesel fueled buses through
expanded use of compressed natural gas (CNG) in public municipal bus
fleets. As part of this mission the CAIP will establish an emission
testing facility for heavy and medium duty vehicles. Under the prime
contract, CI will award a Firm Fixed Price Contract(s) for the
following equipment, CIF Cairo, Egypt: Heavy duty vehicle and engine
emissions testing system including: Heavy duty chassis dynamometer
system with inertia simulation. Heavy duty transient engine dynamomer
system. Constant volume sampling (CVS) system for heavy duty engine and
vehicle testing. Gaseous emissions sampling and sample conditioning
system. Gas analyzers. Computerized control and data acquisition
system. Light and medium duty vehicle and motorcycle emissions testing
system, including: Chassis dynamometer system with inertia simulation
for light and medium duty vehicles, Chassis dynamometer system with
inertia simulation for two wheel motorcycles. CVS system for gasoline
and CNG vehicles. CVS system with particulate sampling for diesel
vehicles and two stroke motorcycles. Gaseous emissions sampling anhd
sample conditioning system. Gas Analyzers. Computerized control and
data acquisition system. General Support Equipment including:
Flowmeters for diesel fuel natural gas, and engine intake air.
Computerized gas blending system. Microgram balance and filter
conditioning system. Training in the instalation, operation,
maintenance, and repair, etc. of the equipment will also be requested.
