hand held meter reader units and related accessories, software,
training, and hardware and software maintenance. This is a combined
synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in FAR Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the
only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is
M00681-98-Q-M93326 and this is a Request for Quotation (RFQ). This
solicitation document incorporates provisions and clauses in effect
through FAC 97-06 and DAC 91-13. This is an unrestricted procurement;
the standard industrial code is 3829 and the small business size
standard is 500 employees. The procurement consists of: Hand Held Meter
Reader Units with software, qty 3 each, DAP Inc Mdl PC 9800 or
equivalent to be used by field meter readers for various energy
commodities data download; Recharging Kit, for use with Reader Unit for
battery recharging, qty 3 each; Optical Probes, for use with Reader
Unit to read meters and download information into the reader unit, US
Microtel Mdl PM500 Prob or equivalent, qty 2 each; Touchpad, for use
with Reader Unit to read meters and download information into the
reader unit, US Microtel Mdl PMR2300, qty 2 each; Route Map NT Software
for up to 10 users to track customer accounts, qty 1 each; System
Implementation to include setup and training of Government personnel,
qty 1 lot; System Integration with Government FASER 2000 system, qty 1
lot; Hardware Maintenance for 3 each Reader Units; and Software
Maintenance for 3 each Reader Units, qty 1 lot. All responsible sources
may submit an offer by providing descriptive literature of how your
equipment meets the needs of the Government, what type of training the
contractor will provide, what the hardware maintenance includes and
excludes, what the software maintenance includes and excludes, and past
performance of at least two recent references where the contractor has
sold the same products. The reader unit proposed shall be capable of
downloading data from electric, natural gas and water meters into the
Government's existing Omnicom Fast Acting Software for Energy Reporting
(FASER) system. The intended purpose and objective is for the
Government to move from manual meter reading and ledger logging
recording to a more automated system in order to accomplish hundreds of
various monthly meter readings more efficiently. FAR 52.212-2
Evaluation -- Commercial Items applies with para(a) reading: technical
capability of the product to meet the Government's needs, price, and
past performance. All Contractors submitting an offer are reminded that
