COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 17,1998 PSA#2182NAVAL LOGISTICS CONFERENCE VADM Amerault, USN, Deputy Chief of Naval
Operations (Logistics) and MajGen Higginbotham, USMC, Deputy Chief of
Staff for Installations and Logistics, along with the American Society
of Naval Engineers (ASNE) and the International Society of Logistics
(SOLE) are co-sponsoring the first ever Naval Logistics Conference
(NLC) and Exposition. The NLC will be held at the Hyatt Regency Crystal
City Hotel in Arlington, VA from 19-21 October, 1998. This symposium
will explore the theme for 1998, "Positioning Naval Logistics for the
21st Century." In todays tight budgetary environment, minimizing
logistic costs and skillfully managing logistic processes are key
objectives heard throughout the DOD and much of the private sector.
This symposium brings together a broad spectrum of commercial and
military representatives in the maritime communities and our Naval
forces to share new ideas and thoughts concerning the challenges to
Naval Logistics. There are over 90 exhibitors participating in the
conference. It is an opportune time to learn how the Navy, as well as
a our industry partners, are dealing with logistic challenges as we
