14 -- PENETRATING MISSILE WARHEAD SOL N68936 DUE 100598 POC Joanne Shepter, Contract Specialist, (760) 939-7651 (NAWCWPNS), China Lake, CA, is interested in obtaining information on existing penetrating shaped charge warheads of twelve (12) to fifteen (15) inch diameter for integration into a guided missile airframe for effectiveness and/or insensitive munitions testing. The warhead must be an off-the-shelf design, which is ready for comparative testing. The warhead shall have demonstrated dynamic testing which shows the capability to perforate a minimum of 5 feet of steel reinforced concrete (SRC) at impact angles of 45 degrees or greater off-normal to the impact surface and at impact velocities of not greater than 1100 feet per second. The warhead shall meet the insensitive munitions requirements of Mil-Std-2105, shall weigh no more than 200 pounds and shall be less than 22 inches in length. The warhead shall have demonstrated within the above dynamic and physical parameters the capability to open holes in or damage SRC adequately so that a 500 pound co-axial warhead of 2 inches smaller diameter can perforate through the SRC behind the initial warhead. The intent of this announcement is to identify existing sources for the procurement of articles for testing. If testing satisfies the U.S. Navy s needs, the warhead may be considered in a future evaluation for integration into a missile system. All interested firms should provide pertinent information including a technical description of the warhead, current in-house capabilities and practices, and a summary of test data on the off-the-shelf warheads. Respondees shall clearly mark any information which is proprietary and/or patented. No classified information shall be sent.
