This project provides for a new squirrel-cage motor, rated for 8,000 hp, 6,600 volts, and 1188 rpm, to be furnished and installed to replace an existing wound-rotor motor located in the Basic Exhaust Plant of the Engine Test Facility, Arnold Engineering and Development Center, Arnold Air Force Base, TN. Work includes performance of drive train torsional analysis, stress analysis, and voltage transient studies. The drive train consists of an existing 1940's vintage European compressor and gearbox, new existing flexible couplings, and the new motor. Work also includes providing a reduced-voltage-starting reactor to limit starting torque to levels that the existing drive train components can withstand. The contractor shall provide design, parts, and labor for the installation of the motor and the reduced-voltage-starting reactor. The solicitation will not be available until early October.
