needed to reflect the correct item description for item #17 only: This
is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commerical items prepared in
accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in
this notice. The announcement constitutes the only solicitation;
proposals/bids are being requested and a written solicitation will not
be issued. This solicitation is being issued as a Request for
Quotation (RFQ) #FBICU9832, the provisions and clauses incorporated are
those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular #97-6. This
solicitation is under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and
is a Small Business-Small Purchase Set-Aside. The Standard Industrial
Classification Code is 3829 and the business size standard is 500
employees. This will be a Firm-Fixed price contract. The Government
intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basis with Quantrad
Sensor, 2360 Owen Street, Santa Clara, CA 95054.The requested equipment
will assist bureau personnel responsible for providing forensic advice
to field personnel and conducting examinations at the site of bombings
around the world. This purchase is being done on a sole source basis
because through market research on the Internet no other source for
such XRF Alloy Analyzer could be found. The requirements consists of
the following: one (1) Alex-The Alloy Expert; two (2) Remote Printer
(Ruggedized); the instrument must be portable, easy to use, safe and
ruggedized for field use, without compromising accuracy of
repeatability -- FOB-Destination -- Cheverly, MD. This notice of intent
is not a request for competitive proposal. However, interest parties
may submit a proposal in which they identify their interest and
capability. The following FAR clauses are incorporated by reference and
applies to this acquisition: FAR 52.212-4 Contract Terms and
Conditions-Commerical Items (Aug 1996). Each offeror shall include a
completed copy of the FAR provisions at 52.212.3- Offeror
Representation and Certifications (Jan 1997) with its offer. All
proposals shall be submitted to the address listed on line number seven
no later than 4:00 p.m. EST, 9/25/98. All proposals shall be clearly
marked with RFQ #FBICU9832. All offerers are hereby notified that if
your proposals is not received by the date/time and at the location
specified in this announcement, that it will be considered
