WASTE SURROGATE AVAILABILITY. Contact Michael E. McIlwain. Lockheed
Martin Idaho Technologies Company (LMITCO), P.O. Box 1625 Idaho Falls,
ID 83415-2210. Lockheed Martin Idaho Technologies Company (LMITCO),
the prime Management and Operating contractor for the Department of
Energy at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory
(INEEL). The DOE Mixed Waste Focus Area has directed LMITCO to make
available a number of specially designed box/crate waste matrix
surrogates. This availability is intended but not limited to commercial
suppliers of nondestructive assay equipment and systems. Two sizes of
box/crate waste matrix surrogates will be made available by this
offering (B-25 and standard waste box designs). The intent of this
offer is to foster box/crate nondestructive assay system development by
providing crate waste matrix surrogates with characteristics
representative of DOE stored waste. A B-25 crate combustibles surrogate
is currently available and a SWB combustibles surrogate will be
available after the first of calendar year 1999. These crate surrogates
will be provided on a scheduled basis at no cost to the Federal
Government. The DOE reserves the right of first priority for the use of
these surrogates and will determine the schedule of their availability.
Interested commercial parties will need to provide a written expression
of interest to LMITCO. On notification of surrogate availability, the
requesting commercial party will need to provide to LMITCO payment for
the following costs which will be provided to the commercial party in
advance of notification: 1) labor and materials costs associated with
preparation of crate surrogate for shipment to host, 2) shipment of
surrogate from Idaho Falls to host site, 3) labor for training of host
personnel to use and configure the surrogate, and 4) return shipment
of surrogate from host site to Idaho Falls. In addition to payment of
costs, the requesting commercial party will need to provide to LMITCO
proof that an insurance policy has been procured to reimburse LMITCO
for full cost of the surrogate (estimated value is $40,000) in the
event that the box/crate is damaged or destroyed while in transit or at
host location. Further, the requesting commercial party is to provide
to LMITCO a guarantee that surrogate will not be exposed to weather
elements at any time the box/crate is in their possession. This is not
an opportunity to provide goods or services to LMITCO or the
Department of Energy. Organizations with interest in using these
surrogates are asked to address their written request to Michael E.
McIlwain, LMITCO, P.O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-2210. Questions
concerning this announcement can be directed to Michael McIlwain by
contacting him directly on 208-526-8130 or by FAX on 208-526-0690. This
request is for determination of interested parties and will close to
response 30 days following publication. Posted 09/16/98 (W-SN250825).
