ext. 231 The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Aircraft Operations Center intends
to upgrade the N61RF Helicopter transmission in accordance with Bell
Helicopter Technical Bulletin 212-89-117 Rev "B" and 212-85-89. The
Government will ship the transmission to the contractor's facility. The
contractor will open the transmission; inspect the transmission and
subassemblies; and provide the Government with a Tear down Report
within 10 calendar days after receipt of the N61RF Helicopter
transmission. The Tear down Report shall provide the Government with a
breakout of parts and costs associated with each overhaul/upgrade
element from a 212-050-001-59 transmission to a 212-040-001-179
transmission. The Government will determine whether the Government will
overhaul or overhaul and upgrade the transmission. Return
transportation of the N61RF transmission will be by Ground
Transportation with the Commercial Bill of Lading stating -- convert to
Government Bill of Lading at destination. Work to be completed and
transmission returned to Aircraft Operations Center's facility by
12/15/98. The aircraft maintenance contractor must have the Bell 212
aircraft on FAA Repair Station Certificate; be insured for $1,500,000
for the time the helicopter is at the facility; and have performed
similar maintenance on this type helicopter within the preceding six
months. This acquisition is not set-aside for small businesses.
Standard Industrial Classification Code 7699 applies. The purchase will
be made under the guidelines of FAR, Part 13, Simplified Acquisition
Procedures. The Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be issued on or around
October 1, 1998. Requests for the RFQ may be faxed to (816) 426-7530.
All responsible sources may submit a quote which will be considered by
