The Genetic Epidemiology Branch (GEB) of the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) intends to negotiate with Westat, Inc. for an increase to the labor hours and dollars awarded under Contract No. N02-CP-60534 to continue two studies of emergent public health importance, the Washington metropolitan area survey of the Jewish population and the Israeli case-control study of ovarian cancer. Authority: 41 USC 253 (c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. Numbered Note 22 applies as follows: The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within forty-five days (thirty days if award is issued under an existing basic ordering agreement) after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
