COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 21,1998 PSA#2184DETACHMENT 1, 21 CONTRACTING SQUADRON INDUSTRY PLANNING CONFERENCE AT
THE UNITED STATES EMBASSY, COPENHAGEN, DENMARK United States Air
Force's Detachment 1, 21st Contracting Squadron, will host an Industry
Planning Conference (IPC) 17 18 November 1998 at the U.S. Embassy,
Copenhagen, Denmark. The purpose of the conference is to foster
partnership between the U.S. Government and industry as well as to
increase industry's awareness of business opportunities related to
acquisitions for Thule Air Base. The range of contracting conducted by
Detachment 1 includes operations/maintenance, construction,
architect/engineering services, supplies, airlift and sealift
transportation. In addition the Defense Subsistence Buying Office
procures needed subsistence items for Thule Air Base and is co-located
at the U.S. Embassy with Detachment 1. The conference is also intended
to convey changes in Department of Defense acquisition rules as well as
changes in business practices. The nature of the conference is intended
to be a dialogue, that will include opportunities for industry to
inform government officials of their comments and concerns. The
conference will be conducted in English, however, Danish speaking
embassy personnel will be on duty to assist with answering questions.
The first day of the conference is planned to include an address by the
American Ambassador and representatives from key contracting,
disbursement and subsistence personnel. The second day of the
conference is being reserved for one-on-one discussions between
individual contractors and their preferred government representative
related to their field of work. Reservations are required for both the
first day of the conference as well as for one-on-one sessions with
government personnel. Reservations are being taken at this time. The
conference fee is 300 DKK ($45 US), due at the time of reservation.
Conference fees cover registration, conference materials, morning
coffee/roll, lunch, and end of first day refreshments. One-on-one
sessions will be reserved by industry on a first-come, first-serve
basis. Starting on 15 October, 1998, advance conference material,
including agenda will be available at www.crimsontide.dk. Written
questions or suggested areas of discussion are encouraged prior to the
conference to help in planning the agenda. Requests to register or
