66 -- REQUESTING INFORMATION ON GROUND TO AIR INFRARED MEASUREMENT CAPABILITY DUE 103198 POC Andrew Gross, Technical POC, (301)342-1207 FAX (301) 342-1190 The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) at Patuxent River (Pax River), Maryland is looking into developing a ground-to-air infrared (IR) measurement capability that can measure the IR signature of tactical aircraft. This system must collect spectral and spatial IR data in the 3-5 and 8-12 micron bands. Data rates must be high enough to handle fast moving aircraft. This system must be able to take calibrated IR signature measurements. It must be able to measure the IR signature of aircraft IR decoys as well. NAWCAD Pax River is looking for IR instrumentation that can take these types of calibrated measurements. The IR instrumentation and equipment needed for field calibration, laboratory calibration and support is also of interest. Information is needed on a ground-based platform used to mount the IR instrumentation and to provide the necessary target tracking capability.
