D -- ACQUISITION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES POC Donna Souders, 301-457-1810 The Bureau of the Census, (BOC), has a requirement for the acquisition of information technology services for systems development, programming, operations and communications expertise to support information technology activities across the BOC commencing on or about March 1999. As part of the overall Commerce approach, BOC is considering making this acquisition available for use by other Federal Agencies in an effort to promote the participation of small disadvantaged businesses in federal procurements. This acquisition will be conducted through a reengineered acquisition process known as "A Streamlined Acquisition Process" (ASAP). Part of the ASAP process includes the publication of a Project Agreement which provides a high level description of the requirement. The Project Agreement is scheduled to be released on or about September 21, 1998. The BOC anticipates this procurement to be for a base period of one year with four additional one-year option periods. This will be an 8(a) competitive acquisition set-aside for eligible concerns as provided in Part 19.8 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code for this acquisition is 7371. The solicitation will be released through the use of the Internet on or about November 17, 1998. A CBD notice will be issued announcing the solicitation. As part of any response to the solicitation, BOC anticipates requesting past performance information be submitted not later than fifteen (15) days after issuance of the solicitation.
