previously issued on 15 September 1998 is amended as follows: Several
contractors had questions. Listed are the questions and answers: 1. Q
-- On page 1 of 2 on the Internet CBD, please state the backset desired
and the throw. The standard backset is 2 3/8" or 2 3/4" and no throw
distance is indicated. A -- The backset is 2 3/4" and the throw is
1/2". 2. Q -- The solicitation number is as stated above; however, in
the body of the information it states that the RFP in N00189-97-R-0117.
Will there be a disqualification if the I incorrect number is utilized?
A -- The correct solicitation is N00189-98-R-0117. 3. Q -- The
solicitation states that the quote is for locksets and installations
hardware; however, there is no mention of the installation of the
locksets. Is this to be included in the quote? Or will the hardware be
installed by a part other than the offerer? This would be a
significant difference in the quote amount. A -- Installation will /be
performed by Navy personnel, not the offeror. 4. Q -- The solicitation
does not state the preference of keyway for the locksets. Some specific
keyways are special order items and require lead time on the orders.
This information is necessary to provide adequate information on the
quote. A -- There is no specific preference of keyway for the locksets.
5. Q -- Is out TPIN for Central Contractor Registration required on
this quote? A -- Yes. 6. Q -- Are locksets to be interchangeable core?
A -- Yes. 7. Q -- Are locksets to be Marine grade. A -- Stainless
Steel as specified. 8. Q -- Is the backset 2" or 2 3/4", which is the
standard and what is the length of the throw? A -- The backset is 2
3/4" and the throw is 1/2". 9. Q -- What are the specifics on the
backset and throw? The usual throw is 1/2". A -- The backset is 2 3/4"
and the throw is 1/2". 10. Q -- Are the cores required to be
interchangeable? A -- Yes. 11. Q -- Are these to be made from ferrous
or non-ferrous materials? A—The material shall be cres stainless
steel. 12. Q -- Could the ARO be somewhat lengthened? To a more
realistic production time for these lockset, ie . . 6-8 weeks? A -- 6-8
weeks is reasonable. 13. Q -- Please confirm that the required backset
is 2". The standard backset for Series 4000, Grade 1, locksets is 2
3/4" and FED-STD-161 indicates that 2 3/4" backset is required. A --
The backset is 2 3/4". 14. Q -- Please provide description or drawing
of the style knob required. The term "domehead" in a military
specification and do not know what style knob offer. A- The term
domehead is a round head knob. 15. Q -- Please clarify the function of
the lock required. Series 4000, Grade 1 locksets are available in
different functions, all of which have a keyed knob on one side and a
push button on the other side. A -- No specific function, bid as
specified. 16. Q -- Whether radius latch and strike? A -- Yes. 17. Q --
Where stainless steel mechanisms? A -- Yes. II. The delivery isamended
to read 6-8 weeks after receipt of contract. III. The quantity
(locksets) has increased to ten (10) per is division (16), making a new
total of 1,954 sets. IV. All other terms and conditions of the
