This amendment is required to answer questions concerning the Eliant XL 5GB Exabyte 8mm Tape Replication Rack Mount System. The synopsis/solicitation remains for items prepared in accordance with the format in subpart FAR 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. Question #1: In reviewing the above mentioned solicitation, we have discovered in conversations with Exabyte that Line item 1 was never manufactured by Exabyte. Nor have they ever manufactured any type of replication system. Is it possible that a third party constructed a replicator using Exabyte drives? Answer: Yes, we are expecting a third party to construct the Replication Rack Mount System using Exabyte drives. Question #2: I am inquiring if this contract is brand specific in terms of providing Exabyte? Can an equal product be provided? Answer: The specific brand, Exabyte, is required for the tape drives.
