The Developmental Therapeutics Program (DTP) of the National Cancer Institute's Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD) is seeking an organization having capabilities, resources and facilities for the preparation, storage and distribution of radiolabeled materials. The objective of this project is the synthesis of radiolabeled compounds of high purity in 1 to 50 millicuries quantities. The synthesis of a wide variety of compounds such as nucleosides, heterocyclics, alkaloids, peptides, natural products, dyes, purines and the like will be requested. Compounds required may include one or more of the following radioactive elements: carbon, tritium, sulphur, phosphorous or iodine. Materials will be stored and shipped by the Contractor. The Contractor must provide suitable storage for approximately 50 radiolabeled compounds. The successful Contractor must possess a valid Nuclear Regulatory Commission license (NRC) or a license issued by the State that has entered into an agreement with the NRC ( an Agreement State) at the time of submission of final proposal revisions. All materials must be completely characterized and assayed as to identity, purity and radio purity. A well-equipped analysis laboratory including a HPLC dedicated to radiosynthesis work and adequate library facilities should be available. The Principal Investigator should be trained in organic, medicinal, or radiochemistry, preferably at the Ph.D. level from an accredited school, and should have recent experience in radiochemistry. It is anticipated that a single cost-reimbursement, completion type award will be made for a period of five years beginning on or about June 30, 1999. To assist in the preparation of a proposal, the Government considers the effort to be approximately 3,515 hours annually based on 1,900 hours per FTE. This contract is a recompetition of contract N01-CM-47008 currently performed by Research Triangle Institute. The solicitation is scheduled for electronic release approximately October 19, 1998.
