E-MAIL: Victoria L. Dixon, victoria.dixon@msfc.nasa.gov. NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the Operational Installation of an Existing Autoclave. The specification includes the design, installation, inspection, testing, checkout, and commissioning of an operable 18' x 20' autoclave system. The autoclave system shall be provided as a turn key installation and include operational training. The autoclave is intended for use within the aerospace manufacturing industry to provide for curing and bonding of carbon, fiberglass, kevlar, graphite, plastic and metal honeycomb composite component parts. The autoclave is located and will be installed at NASA, Marshall Space Flight Center, Alabama. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Thermal Equipment Corporation, Torrance, California. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have until close of business September 25, 1998, to submit in writing their qualifications/capabilities to the identified point of contact. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after September 25, 1998 or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Oral communications are acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
