a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in
accordance with the format FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with
additional information included in this notice. This announcement
constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a
written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation No. 98SQ1708621
is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) and incorporates provisions
in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-07. This acquisition
is not a set-aside. The size standard is 750 employees and the standard
industrial classification code is 3621. U.S. Bureau of Reclamation,
Grand Coulee, Washington has a fixed price requirement for the
following items: CLIN 0001 -- MAIN EXCITER REPAIR as follows: Clean,
dip, bake, test, and repair one 250 VDC, 1600 AMP, 400 KW, 900 RPM Type
Main Exciter. Vendor to receive exciter fields and armature and perform
incoming electrical tests, (megger, ductor, surge comparison test,
polarity test on fields). Steam clean and oven bake both armature and
fields and then repeat all the above tests, including a hot and cold
surge comparison test. Manufacture and install new insulators on the
brush support rings, recondition the windings, burn out armature,
remove commutator from shaft to completely rebuild. Strip armature core
and clean in preparation for winding. Install new commutator and wind
armature with new class F coils. Dip and oven bake twice, turn undercut
and bevel commutator. Dynamic balance of armature must be accomplished,
along with painting the field frame and prepare for shipping. The Main
Exciter is currently at Eastern Electric at 3712 N Flora Road,
Spokane, Washington 99216. It is highly recommended that a visit to the
site of the exciter take place in order to view the exciter and
determine the work that needs to be accomplished. The items must be
delivered to U S Bureau of Reclamation, Warehouse B -- Door 6,
Industrial Area, Grand Coulee WA 99133 by 10/30/98. The following FAR
provisions and clauses apply to this acquisition: 52.212-01

Destination (NOV 91). Clause 52.212-05, paragraph (b) is tailored to
incorporate the following clauses by reference: 52.225-03, 52.203-06,
52.225-09, 52.203-10, 52.219-08, 52.222-26, 52.222-35, 52.222-36,
52.222-37, and 52.222-41. The Government intends to make a single award
to the responsible bidder whose bid is most advantageous to the
Government, based on items meeting the specification, delivery
schedule, and price and price-related factors considered in descending
order of importance as listed here. The closing date for receipt of
offers is October 15, 1998. Offers are to be mailed to the following

99133-0620. All sources responding to this Request for Quotation shall
do so in writing. All sources responding to this synopsis shall submit
information relating to business status, including identification as to
