The project consists of hauling and placing approx. 34,000 cubic yards
of crushed aggregate from existing Government-furnished stockpiles.
Aggregate shall be blended with a bentonite admixture prior to
placement. Blending shall be done with a stationary pugmill at the
stockpile areas. Contractor shall supply and mix bentonite at a rate of
approx. 3% by dry weight. Aggregate shall be placed to a 4-inch,
compacted depth at variable widths on approx. 26 miles of road adjacent
to the existing stockpiles. Beginning of project is located 20 miles
northwest of Idaho City, Idaho on SH 21. The Government-furnished
stockpiles are located at Mile Post 3 on Forest Road 384 (Kempner Pit)
and 3 miles east of the intersection of Forest Road 327 and the Middle
Fork Boise River Road (Middle Fork Pit). Idaho City is approx. 35 miles
northeast of Boise, Idaho. The final design package will not be
available until March, 1999. Due to weather conditions and not being
able to get into the area at time of issuance of package in March, a
prebid meeting/showing will be held 10/13/98 at 10:00 a.m. Participants
will meet at the Idaho City R.D. Est. start work date is 6/1/99 and is
to be completed by 8/31/99. The est. price range is between $250,000
and $500,000. This proposed procurement is under the Small Business
