94550 A -- LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SEEKS PARTNERSHIPS WITH
INDUSTRY TO COMMERCIALIZE UNIVERSAL INTERCONNECTS FOR MICROFLUIDIC
DEVICES SOL CBD-006 POC Not applicable WEB: Universal Interconnects For
Microfluidic Devices, http://www.llnl.gov/IPandC/op96/08/8m-int.html.
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the
University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of
Energy (DOE), is seeking one or more industrial partners to
commercialize technology for interconnecting microfluidic devices. LLNL
has developed easy to use screw-on and snap-on interconnects that have
low dead volume, that do not leak helium and that withstand pressures
of hundreds of psi. The interconnects do not require epoxy and they
eliminate the problem of tube twisting during installation. LLNL's
connectors could become an industry standard for microfluidic devices
which have broad applications including medical diagnostics, drug
discovery, genomics, environmental monitoring, and liquid and gas
chromatography. For a detailed description, please visit
http://www.llnl.gov/IPandC/op96/08/8m-int.html. Development of the
technology was supported by the Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency in collaboration with the University of Texas M.D. Anderson
Cancer Center. Note: This is not a procurement. Companies interested in
commercializing LLNL's microfluidic interconnect technology should
provide a written statement of interest that must include a description
of corporate capability and experience relevant to microfluidics,
including manufacturing and distribution of parts. Statements of
interest should be sent to: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory,
Industrial Partnerships and Commercialization Office, PO Box 808,
L-795, Livermore, CA 94551, Attention: CBD-006. Please provide your
written statement within thirty (30) days of the date of this notice to
ensure consideration of your interest in commercializing microfluidic
interconnects. Posted 09/25/98 (W-SN254495). (0268) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0002 19980929\A-0002.SOL)
