Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (CDNSWC) seeks sources
within industry for membranes to be used for processing bilgewater
aboard U.S. Navy ships. Membranes must meet the following critiera: (1)
Must exhibit chemical compatibility with petroleum hydrocarbons,
detergents, oxidizers, sea water, solvents, acids and bases; (2) Must
demonstrate the ability to reject oils, producing an effluent which
consistently contains less than 15 parts per million of oil; (3) Must
be capable of operating with throughput streams at flow rates of 1 to
50 gallons per minute; (4) Must be able to withstand an operating
temperature of 32 -- 180 degrees. Information is required regarding
membrane cost, size, pressure rating and ability to be backflushed
under moderate pressure. Responses to this synopsis are requested
within 21 days from date of publication. This synopsis is for
information purposes only to identify potential suppliers. It does not
constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) and does not obligate the
Government in any way to purchase any of the systems offered. Responses
