COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 30,1998 PSA#2191GSA SPONSORS COMDEX Y2K PAVILION AT COMDEX/FALL '98 -- LAS VEGAS
(11/16-20/1998) September 16, 1998 AN OPEN LETTER TO THE INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY SUBJECT: GSA SPONSORS COMDEX Y2K PAVILION AT
COMDEX/FALL '98 As you know, information technology helps Federal and
state government agencies and business enterprises deliver a wide
variety of services that directly affect the health, welfare, and
security of every citizen of the United States. If government and
industry do not work together, some of those information technology
systems may not be able to meet their important missions at the turn of
the century due to their inability to accommodate the change from the
year 1999 to the year 2000. The Government and information technology
industry is working together on this problem to ensure that Federal
agencies acquire only products and systems that are Year 2000
compliant. This coordinated effort is necessary to ensure that our
citizens receive necessary services upon which they depend. To assist
in the dissemination of information about the commercial off-the-shelf
(COTS) products which are year 2000 compliant, the General Services
Administration (GSA) has been working together with the CIO Council
Year 2000 Committee and the Industry Advisory Council (IAC). In
addition to our web site at http://y2k.policyworks.gov which came
online December 1, 1997, the GSA is sponsoring the COMDEX Y2K Pavilion
at COMDEX/Fall '98, this November 16-20, in Las Vegas, Nevada. We have
chosen to work closely with the organizers of COMDEX because we believe
that their audience seeks information about your Y2K compliant products
and services. COMDEX/Fall '98 offers the right venue at the right time
to make a marketing push to this highly qualified audience of over
220,000 IT professionals. We encourage you to take advantage of this
excellent marketing opportunity to demonstrate your Y2K solutions. For
complete information about exhibiting with us in the COMDEX Y2K
Pavilion, please contact Mr. Bill Mahan, Director of Pavilion Sales by
phone at 781-433-1817 or fax 781-444-7722 or E-Mail to
sonny_saslaw@zd.com. There is a limited amount of booth space
available. Sincerely, /s/ by John Clark John Clark, Senior Policy
