COTS MOBILE X-RAY SYSTEMS -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION/SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE: The US Army, Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM), Research, Development and Engineering Center (RDEC), Intelligence and Information Warfare Directorate (I2WD) is conducting an industry survey for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) mobile x-ray systems. The system must have the ability to: (1) capture transmission x-ray and Compton scattered x-ray photons; (2) display dual imaging of transmission and Compton scattered x-ray images; (3) be mounted in a standard General Motors G-3500 van or similar vehicle in form, fit and function; (4) operate at a level of exposure less than .5mR per hour at 2 inches from the cabinet. The system must also be completely self-contained and able to be operated with no additional equipment required. The system should be capable of operating either by self-contained generator power or local shore power. Also, the system shall be able to operate in extreme environments found along southwest border locations. Those sources who feel that they can deliver such a system should express their interest by submitting sufficient documentation explaining their system specifications, item description, and other pertinent material to enable this office to develop an acquisition strategy towards acquiring such a capability. Documentation should include, but is not limited to, commercial validation and, if necessary, rough drawings and sketches depicting integration into target vehicle, including primary and auxiliary power sources and weight constraint considerations. Any information relative to schedule for development, production, delivery, and price history would also be helpful. All proprietary information should be marked as such. This Request for information (RFI)/Sources Sought (SS) Notice is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation of the part of the US Army CECOM. The purpose of this RFI/SS is to identify potential sources that may be interested in and capable of performing the work described herein. The US Army CECOM does not intend to award a contract on the basis of responses nor otherwise pay for the preparation of any information submitted. Acknowledgement of receipt of responses will not be made, nor will respondents be notified of RDEC I2WD evaluation of the information received.
