Sound (FISC,PS) seeks sources within industry for bearings of a
analogous nature to the FAG Bearings Corporation basic designs 231/560
and 230/850B. THE FIRST ITEM: 231/560 is a double row, spherical
roller bearing, FF-B-185, Class 6, Type 264 with basic dynamic
capacity: C=1,800,000 LBS, basic static capacity: Co=3,670,000 LBS, and
basic static thrust capacity: Coa=1,670,000 LBS. The estimated material
weight of the rings and rollers is 1,693 LBS; AISI. 52100 Steel with a
brass cage. Tolerance Class: RBEC-1. Internal Clearance: .0020"
-.0059" (Reference of Fa/Fr less than .31) and includes three (3)
lifting bolts. THE SECOND ITEM: 230/850B is a double row, spherical
roller bearing, FF-B-185, Class 6, Type 264 with basic dynamic
capacity: C=2,250,000 LBS, basic static capacity: Co=5,220,000 LBS, and
basic static thrust capacity: Coa=1,680,000 LBS; AISI. 52100 Steel with
a brass cage. Tolerance class RBEC-1. Internal radial clearance: .0024"
-.0091" (Reference of Fa/Fr less than .22) and includes three (3)
lifting bolts. The suggested lubricant for both of these items is
MIL-G-24139 grease. Basic drawings B46219B and B46220B are available
for review if necessary. These items must be produced by a domestic
source -and of domestic origin. (United States or Canada) Those sources
who believe that they have a supply that could meet the above
requirements (or easily modified to be able to meet the above criteria)
are encouraged to provide specifications, item description, and other
pertinent material to enable this office to develop an acquisition
strategy towards acquiring such items. Any information relative to
schedule for development, production, delivery, and price history would
also be helpful. All proprietary information should be marked as such.
This request for information (RFI)/Sources Sought (SS) Notice is for
information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a
solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the US Navy, FISC. The
purpose of this RFI/SS is to identify potential sources that may be
interested in and capable of performing the work described herein. US
Navy, FISC Puget Sound does not intend to award a contract on the basis
of responses nor otherwise pay for the preparation of any information
submitted for FISC, Puget Sound's use of such information.
Acknowledgement of receipt of responses will not be made, nor will
respondents be notified of FISC Puget Sound's evaluation of the
information received. SUBMISSION: Responses to this RFI/SS should be
submitted no later than 3:00 PM PST on 14 October 1998. An original and
one copy shall be sent to the Fleet and Industrial Supply Center,
Regional Contracting Department, Attn: 205.MP (Mark T. Phillipp), 467
