RENOVATE EXISTING BUILDING 376 INTO A FACILITY HOUSING THE LABORATORY OF MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY FROM THE NIH CAMPUS IN BETHESDA, MARYLAND TO THE FREDERICK CANCER RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER. SAIC Frederick, the Operations and Technical Support Contractor for the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Frederick Cancer Research and Development Center (FCRDC), anticipates a requirement for the renovation and upgrade to an existing building in order to house the Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry currently located in Bethesda, Maryland. SAIC Frederick intends to issue two (2) draft solicitations and hold two (2) pre-solicitation/site visits, with the first meeting to be mandatory in order to bid. These meetings at the NCI in Frederick, Maryland are to keep prospective bidders aware of continuing project developments. The bid period will be no more than 15 days. Industry review and comment of the work requirements is encouraged. The work includes, but is not limited to, complete interior demolition of existing CMU and stud/drywall partitions, demolition of existing air handling units and ductwork, erection of exterior elevator tower and three stop elevator, construction of approximately 8,000 net square feet of chemistry laboratories and ancillary support space (including rest rooms, corridors and miscellaneous common support areas) with air handling support for approximately 40 laboratory fume hoods. Construction time frame is estimated to be ten (10) months, including contractor testing and acceptance. Potential contractors will be required in their proposal to show direct experience of company and key personnel in successfully completing at least one of the following: (a) Renovation/construction of chemistry laboratories, (b) Renovation/construction of biological laboratories designated BL-2 or higher, and Renovation/ construction of medical research facilities. Interested contractors will be required in their proposal to provide evidence of having successfully built at least one such facility in the last five (5) years where the construction cost of $3,000,000, or more, with evidence that those facilities were tested, approved and accepted. Contractors shall provide a statement of project management capabilities and techniques with resumes of relevant/key personnel who shall be made available for the duration of the project.
