The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) is seeking detention services for housing and safekeeping of approximately 1,200 bedspaces for federal prisoners (the 1,200 is for the intial period; however the maximum number of expected bespaces is expected to rise to 2,000 oper the life of the two contracts to be awarded number of bedspaces may). All Federal prisoners are considered medium/maximum security. The contracts will also require serices in support of the basic function of detention services, such as medical serices for the detainees, transportation of the detainees to and from medical appointments, and similar fuinctions. The USMS District of Arizona is expected to use the resulting contracts on a regular basis, but other USMS districts and the Immigration and Naturalization Service will also be users. Any facility or facilities that are used by contracts to provide these services must be within 80 miles of Tucson or Phoenix, Arizona. Contracts may be issued for less than the total quantities and multiple award may be made. Solictation MS-99-R-0003 will call for a base year of performance, plus up to two (2) one year options. Solicitation MS-99-R-0004 will call for a base year of performance plus four (4) one (1) year options. It is currently planned that the contract awarded under solictation MS-99-R-0003 will be performed for no longer than it is required to have a contractor ready to commence performance under solicitation MS-99-R-0004 Posted 10/01/98 (W-SN257414).
