The National Science Foundation (NSF) is soliciting proposals for the conduct of its 1999 Survey of Public Attitudes Toward and Understanding of Science and Technology. The requirement will be to conduct a computer-assisted-telephone-interview (CATI) survey of approximately 2000 adults in early 1999 to obtain answers to a series of questions that measure interest in, understanding of, and attitudes toward science and technology. Questionnaire development will not be part of this contract, as the questionnaire used to conduct the previous 1997 Survey will also be used to conduct the 1999 Survey. In addition to collecting, compiling, and processing the survey data, the contractor will be responsible for documenting survey procedures, assisting in the preparation of materials for the National Science Board publication, "Science and Engineering Indicators -- 2000," and in making the data available to the public in other formats.
