61 -- TRANSMISSION LINE SPACERS SOL n/a DUE 102698 POC David Essex, MR 5F, (423) 751-2056 E-MAIL: dessex@TVA.GOV, dessex@tva.gov. TVA is requesting information regarding Transmission Line Spacers Dampers. If your spacer-damper meet the following criteria, provide the requested information listed below to me by October 26, 1998. Physical Requirements: The spacer-damper shall be designed to maintain three (3) subconductors, of a size and stranding in a triangular configuration, 18-inch on center, with the apex of the triangle down. It shall be marked for proper positioning and installation. The clamps shall be designed so that they will seat firmly and smoothly on the conductor with sufficient pressure to compensate for creep, cold flow, and/or nesting. The clamps which are fastened with bolts, shall be provided with belts with break away heads and suitable washers. The bolts shall be lubricated with alubricant which is to be approved by TVA. The spacer-damper manufacturer shall specify, in his specification, the minimum torque values to be used when installing the clamps. The clamps utilizing a metal-to-metal surface contact shall have a minimum contact length of two and one-half (2-1/2) inches. All ferrous metal shall be galvanized in accordance with ASTM Specification A153. Before a spacer-damper can be considered for purchase, a system of the spacer-damper on at least two (2) spans must have been tested and have proven its ability to control aelioan vibration within limits established by TVA based on the vibration-producing conditions experienced during the test. Provide the results of the following tests: Short Circuit Test, Clamp Slippage Test (Torque), Clamp Slippage Test (Pull), Bolt Tests, and Fatique Tests. The results of these tests shall be submitted with your response. Submit a copy of the drawings, the warranty statement or provisions, propose maintenance plan, and the guaranteed life cycle of the component with your response. Verify that your spacer-damper meets all of the above criteria. State any additional benefits that you firm offers such as consignment stocking, staging, assembly, and drop shipping to the jobsite. TVA reserves the right to only negotiate with offerors who's spacer-damper meets all of the requirements listed in this synopsis. Posted 10/06/98 (W-SN259697). (0279)
