The Defense Industrial Supply Center (DISC) is seeking proposals from business entities interested in participating in an acquisition as a Prime Vendor (PV) for lumber and related products. A PV can be defined as the designation of a single source of supply for a wide range of products. The PV would be responsible for supplying various types of lumber products, including, but not limited to, softwood lumber, hardwood lumber, plywood/veneer, poles, pilings, ties, crossarms, dowels, plugs, stakes, doors and moldings. Thisis a representative list and should not be considered exhaustive of all products that will be required of the initiative. The intended solicitation will cover DISC customers in Korea, Japan and Okinawa. The intended solicitation will have further definitions of customers and estimated values. Prospective contractors should have the capability to deliver lumber and related products within, at least, one of the above regions. The intended solicitation will be issued on an unrestricted basis with the resultant contract being an Indefinite Quantity Contract (IQC) for one base with four (4) one-year options. This will be a best value/source selection acquisition in which technical merit is considered more important than price. Solicitation is anticipated to be issued on 14 October 1998 with an estimated closing date of 30 November 1998. A Pre-Proposal Conference is tentatively planned for the 3rd week of October and interested parties should request to be notified.
