The Defense Energy Support Center, Alternative Fuels (DESC-A), is preparing to issue a draft solicitation for a direct supply natural gas requirement at Fort Knox, Kentucky in mid-October 1998. The requirements for Fort Knox will include the following: a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refueling station to include maintenance and training of operational personnel, the natural gas load for the vehicle fleet, and the heating load requirement. The heating load requirement will be approximately 1,453,356 dekatherms annually to be delivered via Firm or Firm Equivalent Transportation to Citygate Louisville Gas and Electric Company. The contract to be awarded is anticipated to start July 1, 1999 and will run through September 30, 2002, with the natural gas heating load requirement to begin October 1, 1999. There is no small or small disadvantaged business set-aside anticipated for this procurement, however, a 10% evaluation preference for small disadvantaged businesses is applicable.
