The work involves the abatement of asbestos-containing material (ACM) from mechanical equipment, including pipes (insulation and/or joint compound), tanks, flues, pumps, strainers, fittings and valves in the Mechanical Rooms of ten buildings at the Turner Job Corps Center, Albany, Georgia. The ACM abatement work in one of the ten buildings extends beyond the Mechanical Room above classrooms and cooridor ceilings. Existing damaged and/or deteriorated non-ACM insulation in the same ten buildings' Mechanical Rooms is to be replaced with new insulation. New insulation is to be installed on some un-insulated pipes in seven of the ten Mechanical Rooms. ACM abatement, insulation and reinstallation in two of the ten buildings' Mechanical Rooms will be bid as add-alternates. The construction completion date of the project is 154 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. The estimated cost range for construction is between $100,000 to $250,000. Plans and Specifications shall be available on or about October 27, 1998, only from the Architect/Engineering firm of Yielding & Wakeford Architects, AIA, 116 Roosevelt Avenue, Suite 200, Albany, Georgia 31702. Plans and Specifications will be made available for pick-up at the A/E's office, or delivery may be arranged at an additional charge. Any additional shipping and or handling charges must be pre-paid and COD requests will not be accepted. Requests will be answered on a first-come, first-serve basis until supply is exhausted. For requests made after the initial supply is exhausted, a non-refundable fee not to exceed the actual cost of the IFB documents (to be determined by the Contracting Officer) will be required in order to obtain the IFB documents. Pre-Bid Walk-Thru is scheduled for November 10, 1998, at 11:00 A.M. local time at the Center. Bid Opening is scheduled for December 01, 1998, at 2:00 P.M. local time at the A/E's office.
