noncompetitive Request for Proposal (RFP) to Lockheed Martin Michoud
Space Systems (LMMSS) for the follow-on Sixth Production Buy of Space
Shuttle External Tanks. Activities include the manufacture, assembly,
test and delivery of 60 External Tanks and related effort, including
facility operations and maintenance at NASA's Michoud Assembly
Facility, New Orleans, LA. No other supplies or services will satisfy,
or are qualified for, agency requirements. The Government does not
intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. The
RFP will be released on or about December 1, 1998. The firm date for
receipt of proposals will be stated in the RFP. See Note 22.
Notification of interest and capability to respond to this requirement
or to submit proposals in response to this synopsis should be provided
to the Contracting Officer within 15 days of the date this synopsis is
