COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 14,1998 PSA#2200US Army ARDEC, AMSTA-AR-PC, Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey 07806-5000 A -- DEVELOPMENT OF AN ELECTRIC GUN TURRET TO REPLACE THE EXISTING
APACHE TURRET SOL DAAE30-99-R-0200 DUE 112098 POC DONA APGAR, CONTRACT
SPECIALIST, 973-724-3271 WEB: US ARMY TACOM-ARDEC Procurement Network,

Apgar, DAPGAR@PICA.ARMY.MIL. The U.S. Army, Tank-automotive and
Armaments Command (TACOM), Armament Research, Development and
Engineering Center (ARDEC), Close Combat Armament Center (CCAC) is
soliciting industry proposals for the Precision Electric Turret (PET).
The PET program will develop an all electric gun turret to replace the
existing Apache 30mm Chain Gun Turret. This effort will integrate and
test the PET on an Apache helicopter. All PET physical dimensions,
configuration, characteristics, power and control electronics and any
software including architecture/algorithms shall enable the integration
of PET with the Apache and ensure that EMD level PET performance
validation and qualification testing can be easily accomplished by the
Apache Longbow system integrator with limited integration support from
the PET developer. Due to the limited and proprietary nature of the
majority of the Apache and the 30mm Chain Gun intellectual property,
the Government will not be responsible for providing Government
Furnished Information (GFI) in support of the PET development. The
Government encourages the teaming of contractors which provides the
optimum mix of expertise required for successful development and
integration of the PET system. We will require that the eventual PET
contractor sign partnering, nondisclosure agreements with Boeing
(System Integrator) and the TBD ammunition contractor for the new 30mm
Advanced Combat Round. A Cost Plus Incentive Fee contract is
anticipated. Solicitation will be posted 20 October 1998. It will be
full and open competition. Posted 10/09/98 (D-SN261129). (0282) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0009 19981014\A-0009.SOL)
