This announcement is an amendment to CBD notice 244338 dated 1
September 1998 for Sign Language Interpreting and Oral Translation
Services. The announcement is amended to read: The Virginia Contract
Activity, on behalf of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has a
requirement to provide Sign Language Interpreting and Oral Translation
Services for the DIA deaf and hearing impaired employees and visitors
in support of the DIA's Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity
Office (MD). It is the Government's intent to award a Firm Fixed Price
Labor Hour contract, base year and four option years. The services
required are specifically to conduct sign languge and oral translation
interpretations for the deaf and hearing impaired employees and/or
visitors. Sign Language/Oral Interpreters/Translators must be qualified
and/or certified by screening as recognized by the National Registry of
Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or the Recognized State Agency of the
contractor's headquarters. Two full-time sign language interperters are
required and must be capable of performing one or more of the following
necessary communication modes/methods: American Sign Language, Pidgin
Signed English(PSE), Oral Approach, and/or Fingerspelling with the
ability to understand and interpret technical terminology. The
contractor will provide in addition to full-time interpreters,
part-time interpreters on an as-needed basis for intermittent services
when full time interpreters are unavailable. Intermittent services
require additional contracted personnel on assignment. All interpreter
personnel will also be required to provide reporting data as
requested. Contractor must be eligible to receive clearances at the Top
Secret, SCI level. It is anticipated that the RFP will be issued on or
about 21 October 1998. To receive a copy of this solicitation, faxed
requests from interested parties must be received within 15 days from
the date of this announcement. The RFP will be sent to those offerors
which submitted proposals under the prior notice244338, no request is
necessary. The Government will not pay for any information submitted in
