The Naval Surface Warfare Center intends to procure on a sole source basis from General Dynamics Armament Systems, Lakeside Avenue, Burlington, VT 05401, research and development support in the area of minor caliber gun systems, including the MK15 PHALANX Close In Weapon System (CIWS), Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAAV), Percussion Electric Conversion Hardware System (PECHS), and Close In Gun System (CIGS). Support will include: including engineering analyses, fabrication of prototype hardware and testing and engineering design support for PHALANX CIWS gun systems, including the ammunition feed and handling subsystems, and other in-service Navy Gatling gun systems. This effort will be for a period of five years. Deliveries will be made to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division 17320 Dahlgren Road, Dahlgren, Virginia 22448. This requirement is a partial follow-on to N60921-93-D-A105. Support will be provided by General Dynamics based on their proprietary rights to the hardware and software improvements made to the M61 gatling gun, and their role in the Gun and Ammunition Integrated Product Team (IPT) for the AAAV weapons system.
