E-MAIL: James Debelius, James.M.Debelius.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Supplier Assurance Contract (SAC). The purpose of the acquisition is to provide services for NASA Safety, Reliability, and Quality Assurance (SR&QA) insight/oversight of its suppliers. NASA's suppliers are currently estimated at 2,700 locations throughout the continental United States. The effort will entail SR&QA aspects of contract-directed activities for all NASA field centers. NASA currently anticipates issuing approximately 450 task orders over the two year basic period of performance of the contract and 1,950 task orders over a five year period if all of the options are exercised. The provisions and clauses in the RFP are those in effect through FAC 97-06. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. The SIC Code and Size Standard are 8731 and 1,500, respectively. The DPAS rating for this procurement is DO-C9. The anticipated release date of RFP5-51767-502 is on or about October 30, 1998 with a proposal due date 45 days from RFP release. All qualified responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed. See Internet Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0 or Excel 5.0 and Rich Text Format) format, except for the RFP which will be in Word 97, and will reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
