This project includes furnishing a chilled water storage tank and all ancillary equipment for connection to an existing central chilled water generating plant. The tank construction may be steel (AWWA D100) or concrete (AWWA D110 Type II). The tank will be insulated. The tank will also have an internal diffuser system to establish a thermocline boundary layer and prevent mixing of the water within the tank. A maximum Reynolds number of 2000 has been established as the maximum for water entry into the tank via the diffuser system. The overall project includes the site work, tank foundation, underground utilities, tank foundation design, tank design, internal diffuser design, tank construction, piping installation, electrical work, and direct digital control system installation. The tank performance is to be designed to furnish a minimum of 13,800 ton hours of 42 degrees F (5.6 degrees C) chilled water for distribution to buildings connected to the central energy plant. This performance is required with a maximum tank capacity of 2,000,000 gallons. Estimated cost of project is from $500,000 to $1,000,000. Network Analysis System will be required.
