The principal features of the work to be performed under the specifications include the following: (a) installing pipe drains and small sandbag cofferdams at five selected locations to drain rainwater runoff from the Newman Canal to the Newman Wasteway; (b) sealing embankment crack in the O&M roadway by blading, adding agregate base material, moisterizing, and compacting two sections of the O&M road, each approximately 1/4 mile long by 15 feet wide; (c) repairing the left embankment near Station 66+50 by removing broken concrete canal lining and constructing compacted embankment to restore the original left embankment section, including adding 4 inch thick aggregate base as required to restore the O&M road to its original alignment; and (d) placing a concrete slurry sealer on the invert and 1 vertical foot up the side slopes of the existing cracked concrete liner at selected locations to reduce leakage of rainwater runoff through the concrete liner into the canal foundation material.
