E-MAIL: Rex T. Elliott, Rex.T.Elliott.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. This is a modification to the synopsis entitled Mechanical Restoration of Building 22, NASA's GSFC which was posted on September 25, 1998. You are notified that the following portion of our draft statement of work describes the work requirements which will be part of the resulting contract. This project includes the restoration and modernization of portions of the interior, mechanical and electrical systems of Building 22. Work will modify conditions in all building spaces on four primary levels plus a penthouse. The total bulding floor area is 14,520 square meters. Interior work includes bringing elevators and elevator controls up to current code requirements, renovation of toilet rooms, renovation of public spaces and replacement of corridor ceilings. Interior work also includes the provision of an access corridor on the ground floor and the upgrade of corridor walls throughout the building to a one-hour rating. Mechanical renovations include the replacement of a perimeter induction system and associated air handling unit with a four pipe fan coil system, replacement of five air handling units and associated VAV systems, installation of primary/secondary hot water piping system and installation of HVAC control ysstems. This project includes removal of asbestos from ducts and piping. Electrical renovations include the replacement of the building load center, and replacement of the motor control center, transformers, panelboards, wiring, and conduit. There are five additive bid items, which have been extracted from the work above. Two of the VAV air handling units and associated VAV systems will be additive bid items. The electrical load center will be an additive bid item. The motor control center will be an additive bid item. The upgrade of the elevators will be an additive bid item.
