A -- LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY (LLNL), OPERATED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA UNDER CONTRACT WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY (DOE), IS SEEKING ONE OR MORE INDUSTRIAL PARTNERS TO COMMERCIALIZE TECHNOLOGY FOR MANUFACTURING MICROCHANNEL PLATE SOL CBD99-001 POC not applicable WEB: For a more detailed description of LLNL's microchannel, http://www.llnl.gov/IPandC/. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking one or more industrial partners to commercialize technology for manufacturing microchannel plates. LLNL's lithographically patterned glass microchannel plates have biotechnology applications including nucleic acid sequencing and fragment sizing. The process technology is in place to reliably fabricate 5 cm wide plates with up to 384 microchannels accessed by ports formatted to be compatible with microtiter plates. Comparable in performance to glass capillaries, glass microchannels have advantages including options for channel loading and for integrating upstream sample preparation steps. Microchannel plates are now being used at LLNL in prototype high throughput DNA sequencing instruments. Development of the technology was supported by the Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health. For a more detailed description of LLNL's microchannel plate technology, please visit the Featured Technologies page at website http://www.llnl.gov/IPandC/. Note: This is not a procurement. Companies interested in commercializing LLNL's microchannel plate technology should provide a written statement of interest that must include a description of corporate capability and experience relevant to microfabrication and to manufacturing and distribution of laboratory instrumentation for electrophoresis and nucleic acid analysis. Statements of interest should be sent to: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Industrial Partnerships and Commercialization Office PO Box 808, L-795 Livermore, CA 94551 Attention: CBD99-001 Please provide your written statement within thirty (30) days of the date of this notice to ensure consideration of your interest in commercializing microchannel plate technology.
