The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division requires AEGIS tactical computer software development and maintenance. The tasks shall include engineering and support for the maintenance and development of AEGIS tactical computer software. The contractor shall provide technical support to various land-based AEGIS sites, shipyards, contractor facilities, as well as to ships. The contractor shall review, analyze, code, inspect, test, and deliver computer program code and documentation changes. The contractor shall develop, and maintain advanced software tools. The contractor shall perform research, conduct trade-off studies, design and develop prototypes, and integrate, test and evaluate technology based components of future baseline AEGIS components. The contractor shall provide computer program baseline updates for ships which are under construction. The contractor shall provide configuration management support for the establishment of program generation and verification and validation capabilities for all AEGIS elements. A 5 year contract is planned consisting of a short base period and 5 option periods aligned to the Federal Government fiscal year. A cost plus award fee type level of effort (term) contract is anticipated with a start date of 1 August 1999. It is estimated that effort for this task will approach 200 technical man-years per year. This solicitation is a follow-on to contract N00178-94-C-A220 awarded to Computer Sciences Corporation, Integrated Systems Division. The contractor is required to have a facility cleared to SECRET within one hour travel time from Dahlgren, VA. The SIC Code is 7371 and the FSC Code is AD25.
