Because of severe damage that resulted from Hurricane Georges, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) intends to award a contract for manufactured homes. Up to 1,300 manufactured homes may be required and a minimum of 150 manufactured homes will be required to house disaster victims along the coast of the Gulf of New Mexico (from Louisiana to Florida). The required manufactured homes will be procured through commercial items acquisition procedures. Some of the manufactured homes shall be 14' wide by 60' long, and others shall be 12' wide by 60' long. Additionally, the manufactured homes shall be delivered to a staging site in Jackson County, Mississippi. The manufactured homes must be worthy of transportation and may requie a DAPPIA certification if they will be transported long distances. FEMA intends to award one contract for all manufactured homes. However, proposals for only one size of manufactured home, will be accepted. The contract is anticipated to be a fixed price contract with options for additional quantities. Copies of the solicitation will be issued on or about October 20, 1998, and proposals will be due on or about October 27, 1998.
