office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of HAZMAT
PROCESSING FACILITY, IOWA AAP, IOWA. Bids will be opened on or about 03
December 1998. SOLICITATION OF BIDS WILL BE RESTRICTED TO SMALL
BUSINESS SET-ASIDE. Contractors interested in inspecting the site of
the proposed work should contact the Burlington Project Office (Attn:
Debra Wallin), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Iowa AAP c/o Army
Mailroom/Box 13, Middletown, Iowa 52638, Telephone: (319) 753-7843. FAX
(319) 753-7848. The work will include the following: (Approx.
quantities) The Hazmat facility consists of a single story clear span
steel structure with an approximate area of 6,800 square meters. Wall
materials consist of 8-inch CMU exterior walls with 8-inch CMU and
5/8-inch gypboard on steel stud interior walls. Roofing materials
include steel joists, metal decking, rigid insulation, and a standing
seam metal roof system. Floor construction consists of slab-on-grade
with exposed concrete floor finish throughout, with vinyl tile flooring
used in the office and toilet rooms. Site work consists of grading,
bituminous and concrete pavements, seeding and landscaping, site
utilities, and exterior lighting. HVAC, interior lighting, electrical
and communication work will also be included. The estimated
construction cost of this project is between $1,000,000 and $2,500,000.
The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after
notice to proceed and complete the work 480 calendar days after receipt
of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated
damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed.
Performance and payment bonds will be required. Plans and
Specifications will be provided free of charge. All requests for
solicitation packages should be made in writing and no later than 14
days prior to bid opening. After such time, packages will be furnished
if supply is available. It has been determined that the number of sets
be limited to one (1) per firm. Ordering of plans and specifications
shall be by written request or register on the Omaha District website:

any changes may cause a delay in receiving plans, specifications and
