NASA/ARC plans to issue an IFB/ Request for Offers for the replacement of four centrifugal chillers and mods of the chilled water system to provide primary and secondary loop pumping systems in the main computer facility at NASA-Ames. Demo work includes the removal of four 700 ton chillers, chilled water piping, electrical motors and starters, control system components and wiring. New work for the automated chiller plant includes the installation of four new 450 ton R-134a centrifugal chillers, primary and secondary loop chilled water piping, new pump and cooling tower fan motors with variable frequency drives, pipe insulation, refrigerant leak detection & exhaust systems, Facility Management Control System hardware & software, electrical services, and system balancing & testing. Ancillary work includes the rental, installation, piping and wiring of three 160 ton and three 240 ton temporary outdoor air cooled chillers to provide the facility with chilled water during the time that the mechanical room equipment is shutdown for construction. The order of magnitude for the procurement is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 and the effort shall be completed within 391 calendar days after notice to proceed. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The SIC Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 1711 and $7 million, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB/RFO is on or about November 23, 1998 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about December 23, 1998. The firm date for receipt of bids or offers will be stated in the IFB/RFO. All requests for copies of solicitation RFO2-36838-VDG should be in writing and directed to Chris Wolfe.
