To provide information to NOAA and SRD on ecosystem condition and change over time, including, 1. Develop reef monitoring plan for selected NMS system sites with emphasis in FY99 on locations, data management and reporting. 2. Identify potential uses of Reef data among research and management communities. 3. Produce technical reports on Reef data within National Areas Sanctuaries, with emphasis on the Sanctuary Preservation Areas and Ecological Reserves in the Florida Keys. 4. Identify and report on key species and anomalies in species distribution patterns. 5. Develop plan for geographic distribution atlas, establish and implement system-wide protocols and tolls, and expand efforts to gather system-wide data on fish community conditions. 6. Develop site specific monitoring working groups to assist in the implementation of fish monitoring efforts at the sites, 7. Develop standardized training curricucla, data collection materials and database management infrastructure at selected sites, train local groups/teams to conduct scheduled fish monitoring activities. 8. Coordinate NMSP participation for Great American Fish Count including production of summary reports. 9. Provide assistance to NOAA and SRD vital communications. 10. Interpret fish survey information for public awareness and outreach. 11. Participate in regional and national events related to fish events related to fish survey activities and volunteerism.
