The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, materials, tools, intruments, transportation, management and related work necessary to reforest burned areas with trees species, and preferable native or non-native fire retardant species where feasible. The approximate acreage to be serviced are 12 acres at Sasa Valley and Mt. Tenjo and 16 acres at Ordnance Annex. The primary concern area is reducing eroding sediment from entering stream channels. The primary goal is to establish adaptable species, which have the capability to modify the microenvironment to shade the quantity of savanna vegetation near the firebreaks. The burned areas transect a number of soil types but mostly acidic volcanic soil dominate the landscape. Approximately ninety percent of plants planted in all three sites are expected to survive after one-year from the time of planting. Plants that did not survive within the ninety percent shall be replaced at no extract cost to the Government. The performance period for this contract is 18 months from date of award. The aggregate total price does not exceed $100,000.00. Availability of specifications is on or about 05 November 1998 and approximate due date of quotation is 18 November 1998 at 1600 hours.
