REPAIR PARTS AND SPARES PURCHASE FOR THE SOLID STATE POWER AMPLIFIER REPLACEMENT EMD MODEL The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command intends to establish and exercise option line items on current contract N00039-94-C-0054 with Rockwell International Corporation, Communication Systems Division (3200 E. Renner Road, Richardson, TX 54082-2402). The purpose of this options exercise is to procure Interim Repair Parts and Bonded Bin Spares for the Solid State Power Amplifier Replacement (SSPAR) Engineering and Manufacturing Model (EMDM) which is currently being designed, manufactured, and installed by Rockwell. The SSPAR EMDM is a 500 kilowatt solid state Very Low Frequency (VLF) transmitter system with associated antenna matching subsystem. Since Rockwell is the designer and manufacturer of the SSPAR EMDM, they are the only company that possess the detailed knowledge and expertise to manufacture the Interim Repair Parts and Bonded Bin Spares that will function properly when installed in the transmitter system. Design documentation necessary to conduct a competitive procurement for the Interim Repair Parts is not available under this development contract. This option exercise action is expected to value at approximately $700,000. The Interim Repair Parts for the SSPAR EMDM will consist of circuit card assemblies, power amplifier modules, transformers, and other parts and assemblies required to support the EMDM transmitter system for a period of 12 months based on continuous 24 hour per day operation.
