(AURA) is seeking qualified vendors to provide custom-built modular control consoles for the Gemini 8m Telescope Project. The consoles will be of rigid frame-type construction, preferably 14- or 16-gauge steel, with counter tops made of Formica-covered plywood. Each modular unit will consist of a desk structure and, in most cases, one or two tiers that will contain monitors and other control equipment. This procurement will include provision of the modular consoles and all parts necessary to assemble the modular units into complete console structures, as well as delivery to the Gemini facilities in Hilo, Hawaii, and Cerro Pacon, Chile. The Gemini 8m Telescopes Project is an international collaboration to build two 8 meter telescopes, one to be located on Mauna Kea in Hawaii, the other to be located on Cerro Pachon in Chile. The Gemini project partners include the USA, United Kingdom, Canada, Argentina, Australia, Brazil and Chile. The Gemini Project is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. (AURA) under contract to the National Science Foundation.
