Gabriele, Contract Specialist, (304) 285-4253 WEB: FETC Homepage, http://www.fetc.doe.gov/business/solicit/. E-MAIL: Mary S. Gabriele, mgabri@fetc.doe.gov. The U.S. DOE's FETC announces the availability of Request For Proposal (RFP) No. DE-RP26-99FT40316 entitled "Alternative High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) Filtration System." The primary objective of this project is to develop moisture tolerant, washable high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters to replace glass fiber filters currently in use. The project will be completed in two (2) phases: Phase I Prototype Evaluation and Phase II Full-scale Demonstration. The objective of Phase I is to obtain prototype, regenerable, high efficiency, particulate, air (HEPA) filter elements for performance testing at the Savannah River Technology Center (SRTC) in the HEPA Filter Test Assembly (HFTA). SRTC is located at the Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC. Phase I will also include development of a conceptual design of a full-scale, in situ regenerable HEPA filtration system (RHFS). Should the contractor be selected to proceed to Phase II, it shall produce a full-scale, RHFS for testing of suitability for use in SRS's High Level Radioactive Waste (HLW) storage tank ventilation systems. Multiple awards are expected, with possible downselections after completion of Phase I. The solicitation should be available by November 23, 1998; a 45-day response time is anticipated. The solicitation will be posted on the FETC Homepage for distribution purposes; the address is "http://www.fetc.doe.gov/business/solicit/". Offerors are encouraged to download the solicitation once it becomes available, as paper copies will not be distributed. Any amendments to the solicitation will also be posted on the FETC Homepage. An Information Package is currently available on the FETC Homepage at "http://www.fetc.doe.gov/business/solicit/," describing the draft technical requirements; comments, suggestions, and/or questions are welcomed and encouraged. A general site visit to the SRS is planned for December 2, 1998 offerors interested in familiarizing themselves with the test facility and tank ventilation systems; the SRS is located in Aiken, SC. Any offeror planning on attending this site visit should provide Ms. Mary Gabriele (via E-mail at "mgabri@fetc.doe.gov," via fax at (304) 285-4683, or via regular mail to the above address) with the following information by November 27, 1998: name or names of person(s) attending, clearance level, affiliation/company, U.S. Citizenship, and social security number.
