S -- NATURAL GAS SERVICE AT A PROPOSED UNITED STATES PENITENTIARY TO BE LOCATED NEAR THE CITY OF ATWATER ADJACENT TO CASTLE AIRPORT IN MERCED COUNTY, CALIFORNIA SOL X00-0352 DUE 112398 POC Eric D. Claud, Contracting Officer, at (202) 307-0954 This is an amendment from a previously submitted announcement dated October 19, 1998, Submission No. 263265. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has a future requirement for natural gas service at a proposed United States Penitentiary to be located near the City of Atwater adjacent to Castle Airport in Merced County, California. The facility will house approximately 1,500 inmates, warehouse space and other generic institutional elements. The natural gas service is required by October 1, 2000. The permanent service connection shall be completed by May 1, 2000. The provider shall agree to sell and deliver pipeline quality natural gas at a rate of flow to serve a connected load of 44,862 cubic feet (cf)/hour(hr) of firm and interruptible natural gas. Firm service (uninterruptible) estimated at 17,640 Mcf shall be available for pilot lights, laundry and food service equipment. The provider shall operate and maintain facilities necessary to provide the correctional facility with an estimated total annual volume of 52,407 Mcf of natural gas. Actual energy requirements may not be determined until after the first year of full capacity operation. The estimates provided are for the provider's benefit and are not meant as a guarantee of revenue or use. The provider shall deliver the required natural gas service at 15 psig, to the facility through gas regulator(s) and main gas meter(s) at the point of connection which will be shown in the solicitation document. The provider shall install gas regulator(s) and main gas meter(s) of a type to record and distinguish the quantity of all natural gas (firm and interruptible) consumed by the facility. The solicitation is estimated to be available on November 23, 1998. The bid opening is tentatively scheduled for December 29, 1998.
